Does anyone know if this launch is closed for the year? On Sunday, the parking area was flooded and I saw 2 guys with waders moving around in the water. I'm going to be on vacation the week of the 18th for my annual fall perch harvest and it sure is nice to launch from Crocker vs. S. River Rd.

The DNR officer at the launch told me a couple weeks ago it might be closed until December. Said they are going to be dredging in the area and using that launch to place all the mud they take out of the lake.
Which makes me wonder how cloudy that will make the water in the area and how it might affect the fishing?

How in heck can ya flood the parking area at Crocker? its 20 foot or more above the water line... It was open all of last winter, so I doubt that it would be closed for any length of time..

When I launched out of there last week, there was a sign on the bathroom saying that the ramp was going to be closed for a month for dredging......
I would believe that the flooded parking lot would be a result from the runoff from the dredging ops.....At least I hope the pitch of the lot would allow water to run into the storm sewer and not back into the lake...Hate to think how much oil and gas would be washed into the lake otherwise.
I don't know why they don't do this in the springtime......last time they dredged in the fall it was silted back in by boating season anyways.

I may be wrong, but don't street drains eventually run into the lake?

I'm sure they have it blocked off to dry out. That's why the flood. They are diging up silt more than bottom. I would think they have to let it settle and drain the water ? Just a guess. I'm sure the athorites are involved to keep the mess from being transfured into the water to a .??
I have stated on numerous occassions, even before the launch was opened, that is a terrible place for a launch. Before it was even completed I could forsee repeated siltation problems. They will have to build a breakwall extending the north side of the spillway to keep from having to dredge on an annual basis.
