i dont buy a new bow every year. i have a alpine i bought some time in the late 80's i think. it is my secound bow in the last 27 years. anyway i have bow press and a old biztenbuger flecthing jig so i can take care of the small stuff my self. i use 2419 xx75s and had six or so that needed straightning, never bought a staightiner so i took them to my local pro shop, family owned, to get straightened the guy says we dont do that, carbons dont need straighting. he say that there is not enough demand for aluminon (spelling) shafts that they dont have a straightiner. how about that. makes me want to go back to recurve and cedar shafts!

And thats why the local guys go out of business. I was a big box store yesterday and not only did they have straighteners for sale, but you can select from a variety of models. heck, if your going to shoot aluminums for awhile longer $65 might be a good investment. I have a cheaper model that I picked up a couple years ago and it works just fine for my aluminums.
Its too bad, because I would support my local pro shops any day before supporting the big guys.

just remember the little guy only has so much money to spend every year. we make choices like that all the time. on my limited budget what should i handle, what will sell the best. that said i have a straightener on the counter and every two or three years someone will come in and ask for some arrows to be straightened. we do not recommend it for arrows you plan to hunt with. carbon arrows now make up at least 85% of all my arrow sales. it is really amazing how popular they have become.
