Howdy-

Redundant, in my opinion.....

Yep, I always do it.

I figure anywhere I touch the clothing, unless I use rubber gloves, leaves some scent....so I spray. I also carry a small spray bottle and spray in my stand, if I get a little sweated up on the way in.

Just a comment about scent, this has happened to me many times in the past, so I know how long scent can remain, but this was my latest experience. In our WI opener I scouted from the open field for a bit checking all our stand location entrance areas for rubs and scrapes to help tell us where we were having the best early season buck activity. It was about 10:00 in the morning, sunny and mid 70's, and I went on my walk in shorts, t-shirt and rubber knee boots. I believe the boots covered my walk, but my knees were rubbing against areas of sometimes waste high grass, as my feet were hot and lots of scent was probably coming out of those boots. I sat by an area I had stood in for sometime staring into the woods for rubs, where a new large scrape had very recently been made, and a new 5-6" tree was rubbed. Right before dark, about 9 hours after I first walked by the spot, a doe and fawn approached. Now, they made absolutely no reaction to my more recent walk in to hunt, but when the doe passed over my area from 9 hours earlier, and the adjoining trail across that portion of the field, she stopped and sniffed around for a minute or so, even sniffing up the trail frow where I cut across the field. She mozied on and didn't appear to alarmed, but bottom line, she definately smelled where I had been....or at least where some real sweaty sock smell had been.

I've seen this happen several times with a human scent trail 3-4 hours old, but never that old. You can just never be too careful with scent control and deer.

It's ok to do. Just don't use cover scents on them and don't store the clothes where they can soak up other scents etc.(like in a rubbermaid container with scent wafers etc) I store mine seperately from everything else....but everything goes in sealed containers.

The manufacturer recommends not spraying anything on Scent-loc clothing. If the scent eliminator you are using has any scent to it at all, it will be absorbed by scent-loc but it will reduce the length of its effectiveness. <----<<<

Not to hijack the thread, but I just bought a suit last night myself. Now, it has obviously been touched by bare hands...should it be washed or sprayed before friday?

Just dried and stored in a scent-proof container.

Really you shouldnt put scent free spray on scent lok. BUT I would spray my boots, hands, head, and items. Just not the scent lok!!
