looking for some advice, maybe its applicable to multiple people.

my 2 hottest stands are as follows:

1) 1.5 acre of clover/birdsfoot, with fencerow on north and east sides. beans to the north, corn to the east, beans to the south, and corn the west. the fencerow i'm in is pretty thick(on the east side), and i've scared doe out of there that are bedded. this is a natural funnel, regardless of the crops. most years, prominant movement comes out of the west, so our (early season) prevailing south/southwest winds shouldn't be an issue.

2) mid-way up on the east side of a 60 acre woods. corn on the west side of woods, beans on the north and south side. about 300 yards to the north east, is another 10 acre wood lot. there is a natural funnel back and forth between these two woods. since the movement occurs mostly from the northeast corner (where my stand is) of the first woods, to the southwest corner of the other woods, i usually only hunt this with a north/northwest wind.)

both areas get a lot of traffic.. guess my question is, would you hunt near the clover, or near the heavier cover (woods, which is probably cooler right now than the corn.)

since the winds will play a role, that will probably be the final decision.. but - all things being equal, which would be best?

Man you have a problem. It sounds like you have two good spots.

I have been noticing this though lately. The deer I have been watching are using the fields with clover and beans early in the evening and just before dark are moving across the road to the corn. In the morning they are moving from the corn back across the road to the clover and bean fields.

I'm not sure if they are bedding in the corn or passing through it to some unknown area on the other side.

What I'm getting at is watch there movement if you can and get a feel for how they are moving in the two different areas.

Best of luck to ya.

PS
If all else fails give me a shot and I'll be glad to sit in one of those stands for ya. :D

Not knowing much more about the sites, it sounds like the stand by the woods, for starters may be an easier stand to get into for a morning hunting without spooking game...is that true? Both sound like good rut stands, but the other sounds like one that would hold more deer feeding in the vacinity you would be walking through and into to get to a stand.

What about a stand on the funnel between the two woods, next to the bean field. Also, is there a real thick area on that west side of the woods that deer may come into in the morning after munching on beans all night? Is your stand by there? Whats on the east side of that woods and stand?

I don't know though, that other spot sounds like too much food in the area to get into during the early morning hours.

thanks for the responses, guys..

jeff - the stand by the woods is 1/2 from the road.. i'll have to walk the corn from the south, but can get in quietly.

same goes for the stand by the clover - i can walk corn in.

the corn on the west side of the clover stand is the same field as the corn on the east side of the woods stand. 120 acres of corn separates the 2 stands. deer travel east out of the woods into the corn, and come out the other side to get to the beans and clover.

i might have solved my dilemma.. i checked the weather channel, they are predicting a wind from the south/southwest during the day, changing to north/northwest for evening and nighttime. based on that, i may hunt the clover stand in the morning, spend the mid-day stalking through the corn, to get to the other stand, and hunt that in the evening. that should keep the wind in my favor.. and although the corn is not quite dry enough to stalk, there are enough wash outs from the wet spring to create big bare spots in the corn - maybe catch some deer on the edges of these spots..

thanks again - i know that its hard to visualize with just words...
