Greetings Mich. Sportsman members....... I went boating from Mullet Lake towards Black Lake today, ( real nice ride) when I got to the Black river -Cheboygan river junction, came across a 35 to 40 ft. hole loaded with fish. Anyone have a clue what kind of fish they were. Suprising no one was fishing there. Would appreciate any info.....Thanks, Mike
This time of year they could have been just about anything. I have seen some nice catches of walleye out of there before.

Mike.
The Black and Cheboygan Rivers holds just about every specie of fish that swims in Michigan. The upper reaches can even produce some very nice Browns and a few Brookies. It would be my guess that these were suckers, bass, pike and panfish, as the trout species get uncomfortable living in close quarters with that crowd.

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking walleye but didn't know if any salmon made it past the paper mill. Most the fish I marked were between 8 and 25 ft. down, some big ones and some small ones. Anyway seemed like an interesting spot. Thanks again, Mike

:fish2: I fish there for about 4 weeks through the summer, in the black mainly. I know exactly where you are talking about. Those babies are walleye and suckers. Dont be suprised if you pull a muskie off that sandbar either.
