Just arrived back from our yearly perch fishing trip to drummond island. We had a great time, even tho the perch fishing left alot to be desired. We were fishing between Ashman and Rutland Island In Potagannising Bay. Checked alot of other places, but nothing. I think with the beautiful weather we had last few weeks, the fish just hadn't moved into the area yet. Caught quite a few smaller fish, but we were dead set against keeping anything under 8", so of course most of the fish were 7 3/4". So alot of throwbacks, but a few keepers. We lost a nice Northern pike at the boat, about 30" but nice and fat. My net was tangled on a stud sticking up from planer board mast mount, and the perch rig snap pulled apart on the guy. But the big fish of the trip was a Gorgeous 20 1/2" smallie, caught on a minnow on a perch rig. And I never had a camera!!!! We measured it and I held it up for our other boat to see it, and then away it went. Also caught a couple of walleye while trolling in the evening, but they were just 16" skinny fish. Thursday and Friday were a total bust, with high winds and dirty water. Well, it will only get better up there, the cooler it gets.
