sat 11th, belleville found the eyes uncooperative, but with water temps warmer than most of summer the silvers were hitting well and the crappie appeared to be active..orange/gold remains the hot color..sat night detroit river wyandote to celeron, offered lots of gobies,a few sheep and a major sorting job on the perch..did manage a half dozen in the 11/12 inch range sunday evening 12th margarethe, water as warm as its been all year, according to sources, eye bite started to materialize 20 minutes after sunset(still twilight) managed a couple eaters and couple throwbacks...black/silver wally divers did trick here......monday 13th.millecoquins found the pike still run small, eyes hard to come by, but a 3 lb 8 oz. smallie made it a worthwhile stop, trollin still tough here..remains a jig, still or casting environ..no particular color or pattern did better than another...tues 14th..yooper still experiencing wicked weather, between rain and severe weather forecasts tried little bay de noc..too early, i think for the larger eyes, did manage 3 eater size in 25 to 28 foot of water. bleeding shad, chartreuse thundersticks, deep reef runners were the winners here..weds 15th, reconisance and dabbling, recent rains cooler wet weather and unsettled conditions made it a little tough, gogebic, thousand island, langford, pomeroy lakes..all i talked to said bite was on the slow side..seems gogebic had their sept tourney previous weekend.eyes were less than spectacular..but the perch remain the best growin fish here.1000 island, muskie action had slowed, eyes really not hitting as yet..langford and pomeroy(smaller waters) producing fish, but nothing of major size....indian lake thurs 16th..geez i'm gettin tired of wind and rain.cooling also didn't assist the bite..perch ran small, eyes uncooperative..did brake a rod..assuming ski or large northern....pressure remains quite light in u.p. waters now..great time to be out if you can handle the conditions..friday 17th back at kent(home) eyes seem to hit well sunup til 8 a.m. or so then hour before sunset til closing..sorting required, coulda had a limit if not for 1 at 14 3/4 and one at 14 1/2..as many boats as summer weekdays...shad raps remain the most consistent producer( bout any 2 or 3 tone color seems to produce)..does the wind ever stop? entertained idea of detroit river this morn, but 43 degrees talked me out of it..thank god for football ..a reason to relax today and tomorrow.........Without wench along, record keeping suffers....so this report is from memory and a few scribbled notes.anybody catch any trophies while i was away?.I must say, this has been my best year ever on 13 1/2" to 14 3/4" eyes...must have thrown back 250 this year..sheesh...lol

After all that, I would be ready for a day off from fishing. How about you show up here Monday and I will remind you why lousy fishing beats working????;)
Won't be long now and the walleye will be moving inshore on The Pond.
Night time shore fishing is always entertaining.

Let the river get 5 degrees warmer than the lake, the bonanza will be on. At this rate it wont be long now.......

Huron Bay? Heck yea, bring the stout tackle and kevlar. Some BIG northerns in there. Just use your regular muskie arsenal. I'll be heading there in a couple weeks for the annual pike wars. 30# not out of the question at all. If the weather cooperates, a run offshore to the Huron Is. reefs will amaze you.

No one ever said I had any common sense.
I keep a CLOSE eye on the weather, the mildest of wind changes can send me running back into the bay WOT.

hey i did take an eye at kent..that had jaw marks half way in its body..looked like major size northern had tried to use him for breakfast..examined him close it sure wasn't prop or knife cuts..and i not think osprey or cormorant would make deep both side gashes like that
