I was wondering if anybody knows of a good place to cast for walleye from shore on lake erie in the fall. I know of a few spots on lsc but they dont produce big numbers.

I've heard of people doing pretty good at night in the late fall-early winter on Luna Pier. Besides that i can't be of much help.

Ive seen some monster walleye come out of Luna Pier. You have to hit it at the right time though. If you do chose to try it some night be sure to dress warm as I can remember freezing my #$$ off and I am pretty thick skinned when it comes to the cold.

I only fished it one time several years ago. I think it was towards the end of Nov. You should be able to get some word on it from this board once it starts happening though. As far as lures Big Bomber A's and jointed Rapalas. Again these are BIG eyes and they are hungry.

In recent years, you needed to wade out 75-100 yards out at night just to get into 3-4 ft. of water. Our higher water levels this year may allow us to get some right off the pier itself. All of November and after that until ice-up is good at times. Persistance is the key because the winds and weather are always changing and baitfish are in and out of there at night. Hit it 2-3 times a week and eventually you should hit paydirt...Hope this helps... ;)

The Huron River in Huron Ohio can produce some real monsters from early Novenber to mid December casting off the end of their pier head. The River fills up with baitfish as early as October and the walleyes simply get closer and closer as the colder months wear on. The success you have being there is so much bait in the river, will vary from night to night. If you had even a small boat to troll out in front of the river mouth, you'd be better rewarded. Reef Runners in all colors work best when trolling. Last year, the Fried Chicken and Monkey Puke colors kicked *****. If casting from the piers, Husky Jerks in brighter patterns and Smithwick Rouges in Clown and Fire Tiger are best. Heres a picture from last year on November 7th. The River View Motel on the river itself puts you right near the action.

The bait will congregate around any warm water influx, or areas holding pockets of water warmer than the main lake. (marinas, protected bays, etc.). The predators will come in very shallow in the quest for an easy meal. If you can find a warm water area with lights on the water, better yet.

Wow nice fish! thats what I'm talking about did you get them off shore? I do alot of casting at night on lake st clair in the fall for walleyes but thier just are'nt large numbers. On a good night I'll get 3 or 4 and thier not that big mostly 2-4 lbs. I'm dieing to hook a 10 or 12 pounder I dont care if I have to drive a 150 miles. I'm realy limited as to where I can fish because I don't have a boat. What is the best winds to look for when fishing luna peir and the huron river?

We were actually there for the Walleye Central get together, but heard about and seen the great results from the night bite, from many of the guys who were fishing from dark to about 1:00am to 3:00am in the morning. All their fish (including ours) were caught from a boat. But we seen pleanty of lanterns and guys casting along the sea wall even well into the mid morning. Seen lots of ropes with stringers on them attached to the sea wall, so assumed they were catching some fish. The clouds of baitfish on the graph in the river reminded me of the old days on the Saginaw when the graphs screen was simply filled with one cloud of bait after the other.
What I thought about doing for both safety and convenience sake, was get on a charter boat from the Huron Marina one day and cast the sea wall for two nights. The charter boats over there have the (BIG WALLEYE) world right by the ***** during those two months. I seen one charter come in after us on our first morning fishing the Huron area two years ago, with two 13 pounders and the rest were 7's and up. Only continued or sporadic bad weather patterns can ruin your chances of boating a real monster during that time on a charter.
Heres a couple more pictures from our trip last year on the second day there. You can see a few people fishing along the sea wall in the second photo. The wall runs probably 1/4mile along the river. We boated 10 that second morning by 11:30am (big fish a little over 9) to add to the 12 (in the other picture) we caught the day before. All in all, a great two days I won't ever forget. Also, heres the link to the Charter Boat I was talking about at Huron. Take a look at this guys photo gallery....Wow. http://walleyecharter.com/index.html
