I would be interested also. My wife wants some walleye and if the weather turns out OK this weekend. I may head out there. I have some GPs cordinates that produce fish for me all year. Even while ice fishing, so I may hit those if I go.
Bob
weather looks good am I'm hoping to launch this weekend.
Bay more promising for eyes than the usual ports for "tuna" right now ??

Unless your fishing the west shore of MI, the fishing is slow.
I just read the Saginaw News report for the bay. It said walleye are being caught in the inner bay. Only thing working is crawlers according to the report.
Even if I only get three fish its better then what I saw in Sanilac last weekend.
If a crew wants to make a one day trip to Charlevoix Saturday for Kings I might be tempted to do that?
looks like even the west side has been slow and spotty the last few days.
Maybe the Bay isnt such a bad idea

You can tag along with me if I go. I have not asked anyone else yet.
My son has an afternoon football game so I will have to back before 4:00.
Bob
sounds good
just let me know where/when and what to bring
I'll be at the hospital a lot tomorrow, so the cell is the best way to reach me.

Took my son to S.B. yesterday. Only our second time to ever fish it. Launched out of the Sag. river entrance off Patterson rd. Proceeded to fish along the east side of the shipping channel. We marked fish in 17 fow had a few pulls off the planer boards, nothing home. Made our turn at the big red and white buoy, found a 10" perch on one of the crawler harness', don't know how long we dragged him around. Winds and waves were picking up out of the north, so we decided to just drift with crawler harness' and bottom bouncers, caught a 12" flathead catfish, then we called it quits.

Tom, where's a good place to launch a 19'er near Linwood. I know Hoyle's is usuable, but didn't want to pay $10 to launch. I have a DNR launch sticker, that I try to get the most out of.
I was thinking of going up higher, but wasn't sure which launches were usuable. I didn't want to drive all the way to Au Gres for just the evening fish.
Thanks

Don't go to Au Gres with the thought that you are going to use you DNR sticker to get in the launch. The city of AuGres now runs the launch and your sticker is no good there any more.Another stab in the back by the state.

be careful at gambills. was there a week ago and took a prop off my 18ftr. it's a pretty tight channel when you meet another boat.

Do you have any more details about this? How did it come about, how much do they charge, and do they man the booth the same as the DNR (Mem day -> labor day, weekends only)?

Did anybody fish the bay during the week? I was thinking about making a trip over on sunday from the west side of the state.
Thanks

I haven't fished it, but everybody I've talked to that has reports the same thing - very slow. A few perch can be had if you're able to locate them, but even then boats 20 feet away may be slaughtering them while you get nothing. If you're going for 'eyes, harnesses with meat on bottom bouncers S-L-O-W is the only thing they'll hit from what I've heard.
Good luck if you go.

Ruler, the city of Augres leased the ramp and harbor from the state.Apparently the state does not want to maintain the facility any more.So far the city of Augres is doing a better job, only downfall is the state sticker is not valid there anymore.
