Kalamazoo River

I've never fished the Kalamazoo River. We like to fish for Smallmouth and Northern Pike. We just do "catch and release" and fish from a great old fishing/canoe on trailer.
Does anyone have some information they could share. I'm visiting that area in a few weeks and thought I might try it while visiting. We love exploring and relaxing time fishing. Got any suggestions? Boat launchs?

Ive heard close to downtown is good. Look for rip rap, smallies love the rip rap.

Try crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and also work tubes/jigs along the bottom. Expect to luse some lures.
