Took the Big boat out of the water yesterday for winterization and shrink raping. Took all the gear and terminal tackle out of the cabin for storage for the winter. Was surprised to see that the Domino's pizza boxes that I modified to hold all my pre-made leadered spoon harnesses and plain spoons, were still in great shape, even after getting wet several times. I got this idea after pricing a simple round piece of styrofoam for holding harnesses and leaders at Franks for $7.00. It takes a little cutting and figuring the angle, but they work great. And I know it's kinda late to be sharing the idea now, but take note and save those pizza boxes for next year.

I see by the pics you use a "Dropper Rig" approach for trolling spoons??? Effective all the time or only in a sluggish mood? I troll Erie with Stingers, but never modified em like that...Doyou get better Hook-up Ratios with that set-up, and one final Q for yas, does that get screwed up with line twist and bind up on ya at all??? thanks in advance.

After further review, take it from somone who knows his pizza. Those are clearly Pizza Hut boxes, not Dominos as stated. I believe a Dominos box would work just as well though.
Very clever idea none the less. Interesting to see how well they held up.

Walleye Express - I have to pick your brain on the set up and use of the lures pictured here. I do like the box idea, and do believe that it is a great idea. I have found the use of ziplock snack bags for myu crawler harnasses work quite well, especially stored in one of the flambeau big mouth storage containers. If I were not a techno idiot I would show you my set up! Reall interested in finding out how you use those rigs!;)

To answer all the questions, yup those are a Pizza Hut box's. Sorry for the Domino's plug.

The rigs in question are spoon harness rigs, the ones I build myself and did some wholsale/retail selling of same this spring and early summer until they were gone. They seemed to work better for me in late spring/early summer and then the plane spoons took over..See picture below. I attach them to the mainline and use them as sliders after I let out whatever crankbait I'm using to a chosen length, accoring to where in the water column I want it and the slider to run. Usually a barrel swivel or speedbead is attached 30 inches above the crank to stop this spoon slider so it works above and just behind the crankbait. The leaders are 36 inches long, hang below the crank when reeled in, and have never gotten tangled with each other, really. Started using them as sliders this spring in conjunction with Gulp Worms..(See other picture below).

With the way I built them and the components I used, there is virtually no twist that occurs with these rigs at all up to speeds of 3 mph, unless they get fouled somehow. A few of the guys on this board itself will attest to their non-twisting qualities as well as their walleye catching ability. But I did indeed make this post because of the boxes idea, honest. The Hut must coat their boxes with something that makes them stronger and more moisture resistant.

OK OK Let's go back to the pizza boxes. I can see the hooks hooked to the edge of the box. Where do the leader ends go and how are they attached to the box???

I attach Norman Quick Clips to the end of each leader. You can use these, plane clips or barrel swivels. I then tightly wrap the leader around the box
and show a pin through the cilp/snap/or swivel to hold it in place. You can see some of them if you look close at the top where the hooks are attached.
