I own a broken eTrex Legend. Loved it when it was working. Now it can't find any satellites. I've tried:

Updating the software. Can't get the GPS recognized on my computer so I suspect it's the GPS' fault. Garmin FAQ kind of agrees with me on that.
Per Garmin tech support, left it out in clear sky for 2 hours with no luck.
Per Garmin tech support, did a master reset, then repeated attempt #2 above.
Prayed a great deal that divine intervention would resolve my issue. Obviously didn't work.
Priced new eTrex Legends online after finding out there was a flat $99 fee for Garmin to look at it.

At this point I need to get to getting. I need a GPS or I will not feel comfortable going on the long walks in the woods in search of tasty treats. I also do not want to spend more than $150 on another one.

Would you get this one fixed or would you go for another GPS? Same model or different? I REALLY like the Legend, but I am open to suggestions.

Thanks for your opinions.

Can't say for sure but...Garmins customer service has been outstanding when I have had to deal with them. I'd be willing to bet they will send you a new one vs. fixing the old...if you are satisfied with the features/function sounds like you can't go wrong. However, double check on how they will warranty the repaired unit once they send it back.

Good Luck.

I sent my Legend in Tuesday of last week via next day air and got it back today. I thought it was the same GPS but in looking at the paperwork details, it looks like they replaced internals with another unit. :)

The best part is they only charged me $50 instead of the quoted $99. It pays to call I guess. When the guy on the phone found out the software worked just fine, he said he would only charge the $50 instead. Pretty sweet. Half the cost and got it back in 6 days......sweet service. Hopefully this unit will continue to work great.
