last week saw some sweet action on several mi piers. lots of kings and tons of cohos. fish were getting annihilated at the pierheads by boats and pier fisherman. could have had unreal numbers day but my stay ended prematurely after throwing my cast net into the depths of the lake. fish followed bait in and followed it back out when the water warmed back up. shouldnt be long before theyre in the rivers.

Enjoy the cohos while they last...next year we wont see hardly any in the Grand because of the hatchery die off. How about some pictures man!!! :chillin:

I'd have to agree with you whole-heartedly!! I was on one of the piers on Friday morning, and between 5am and 6am I believe there were 15-20 fish taken between the two piers. After 8am pretty much everybody cleared out, but I stuck around and was glad I did. I landed a 17 pounder about 9:30 and a 14 pounder about 10:15. It was well worth the stay. The hot lure was, I know y'all are going to laugh, but it was the Big game Zip lure!!! I discovered these last fall around salmon season, the salmon really kill these things. One problem, Zip lure discontinued these lures because of lack of sales. I lost three of them this past weekend, so now I'm down to 3 total, and can't seem to find them anywhere. If anybody has a set they want to get rid of, let me know. They have to be the big game lures, the smaller ones are too little for those big kings.

Thanks Hemish. By the way, I forgot to mention I ended up 5/10 out there. It was a pretty crazy morning. I guess Saturday was just as good, with about 25 being caught in the morning. I'll be out there all weekend this weekend, so we'll see if they're still hanging around. The only problem I had this past weekend was that I had 4 line breaks. I'm using the PLine 10 pd test, which is lighter than I'm used to using, so I apparently didn't have my drag set properly. I think I'll take along a spool of 12 pd test this weekend, just in case I continue to have problems. I have some pics, I'll have to see if I can figure out how to get them on here.

pierfisherrick - wow, I heard you had some action but that's simply amazing. I'd love to get out this wkd, we'll see what I can do. Line-wise I'd start off loosening the drag and letting them ride and letting your rod fight them, otherwise, yeah I'd step up the poundage. What a blast. :dizzy:

For photos- I think you can search for "photos" and the thread that explains the 'how to' should come up. I'ts not rocket science but it's not totally simple either.

Hemish, we normally fish off of the south pier, so if you're out there, let out a holler. I know most of the guys who are normally there, so I'll keep an eye out for ya'. Hope ya' get a chance to come out, the preliminary wind reports are showing the wind turning to the north-east on Thursday. That would be a very favorable wind if it holds thru the weekend.

Finally figured out this picture thing. Here's a couple photos from last Friday's catch!! The big one in the center is the 17-pounder!
