Anyone have a word on good results recently. A friend of my son now has a place on Murphy Lake where we can launch a boat from. Haven't tried the lake since last winter & that only brought us small crappie, gills, & an occasional perch. One area bait shop earlier this summer said they had been getting a walleye or pike now & then. The lake should pick up sooner or later if the DNR keeps stocking. Thanks ahead of time for any update.

I was out there in July and caught 1 bluegill and 1 crappie. After every rain, the runoff turns the lake brown like chocolate milk. Screws up the fishing big time. Never used to be that way until a couple of landowners decided they didn't like trees blocking their view of the lake. The fish are there to be caught...but you have to hit it at the right time.

We fished the lake about 4 times in late spring and early summer. Only decent sized fish we caught was probably a 12" bass, the rest were small bluegill and sunfish. We only fished around the bridge because our trolling motor seemed to die on us everytime out even after changing batteries (bad charger or cables). I belive most people catch the bigger fish over by the islands and further east.
I know the DNR stocks walleyes but I just dont think the conditions are right for this lake. If you got to the DNR's website, you can see a list of all the places they stock.
Also, if you do a search on this site for murphy lake, old posts will show up and give you some information on where to fish.
