Good luck to all the Bass Federation guys and gals fishing this weekend at Lake Charlevoix. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and lots of limits will be weighed. Anyone from the site fishing it.

Grizzly.

Most of the anglers have been here pre-fishing all week. I've seen many boats launching out of the Boyne City Area as well as others. Many have made the run out of Lake Charlevoix and down to East Bay. Best of luck to all contestants.

Talked with several guys who are fishing throughout the week. Im guessing the guys who will do best will run to the big water to get the winning weights. Sure is beautiful country up there. Best of luck to all the folks fishing it. I know our club sent 10 anglers.

Day 1 of the tourney brought usually flat conditions for the anglers, and boy did some of them cover some water. I spoke with a friend who was out salmon fishing outside the pier heads this morning. Did he ever get a surprise! These boys were running out while he was fighting a fish. He said most headed for Elk Rapids while a few headed for Harbor Springs and even Beaver Island. I was able to slip out of work just for moment to catch the last of the weigh in. Sorry, they didn't have a leader board up at this point. Most guys only had two or three fish. The largest so far was 6.48 lbs. Here is shot of Jeff Lindsay who won here back in 2000. His catch of four fish put him in 3rd place so far. He's a big dude, and the pic doesn't do justice to the 6lber he's hoisting.

I'm leaving in the morning for the weekend, so I won't be able to post any timely results of the final day, but if I can get back down to the weigh station tonight I'll post day one results.

JJMac,
Thanks for info. Just a few quick questions. Do these guys also fish Round Lake itself? Do they put in at Ironton? Where is the weigh-in station?
Thanks

I just got back to town from my vacation, so no real updates yet, sorry. I did not observe any of them fishing Round Lake itself, however I did see some fishing by the Coast Guard station just west of Round Lake. There's a good deep trough there that I fish myself on occasion during late summer and fall. I go through Round Lake all the time and rarely see any bass fisherman working it. Also, I was surprised to see about 6 or 7 of them fishing in the channel leading out to Lake Michigan about 2 hours before the weigh-in. Probably trying to pick up any small fish they could to fill their limit. I know that pier fishermen have been getting a few 12-15 inchers there lately. I did find out that there were no limits caught on day one which surprised me. They weighed in at Ferry Beach by Irish Boat shop at the city launch.
