ran to sage lake on sunday..a few sub legal bass and panfish..pleasure crowd started early..appears to hold promise once the 'jetset' relaxes for the year!....monday kent was up..hit water at 6 a.m. sharp..smalleye bite was fairly consistent til 8 a.m. all were 12 to 14 inches none found the magic 15..perch bite was steady thoughout the day most not reaching 8 inches...Wench lost a big northern on a bite off, anybody finding big pike floating with firetiger shad rap in its mouth....ul'll know who hooked it!..lol..water temps 74 to 75 wind rather stiff from the south..numerous other hits..most fish hooked or caught in the 9 to 12 foot depths. lots of boats out and shore fisherman, panfish guys were getting steady action(lot of sorting though) bass didn't seem nearly as co operative..did see a british group land a 15 lb+ carp went off my scale..dough balls under a thill float..the english lass was thrilled with catch and 20 minute fight! all in all pretty good day for kent 11 perch and walleye landed and numerous other hook ups and hits, a little better action than we normally experience here..they still seem to like the jointed shad raps, firetiger bleeding shad etc..anything with a little 'red' in it. weeds are under control, only bad feature..about 2 dozen cormorants were sighted

I was kinda happy with it..water seemed pretty clear, plenty of fishable area and , now after labor day i figure most days it will be virtually abandoned most morns and eves.....probably hit it couple more times b4 i venture north again..i have the dnr reports from there(a few years back though) they collected many eyes over 20 inches and pike over 30...smallies to 4 lbs..so i'm thinkin let that water temp drop alittle, keep the rain away and it could be good this fall!

When the water cools, the east and south sides of Turtle Is. can produce some very nice pike.

Geez now i've heard everything!!!!!!! Didn't realize 'finesse fishin' was in your repetoire! Always figured if it wasn't runnin 3 to 5 mph or ploppin some big lure with a splash loud enough to scare the bejeezees out of the neighbors it wasn't for u! :mischeif:

For the first time in a month(Bond)
Took my dad out finally, got a late start but it was pretty foggy.
Went to Crooked, got on the water about 8am. The lot was pretty full.
Started on the north side along the drop off of the sunken island. Dad started landing quite a few gills but nothing of major size. I caught a few gills and an undersize largemouth.
About 10:15 hooked & landed a 26" pike, got a photo and back he went.
About 10:30 dad got a 22"
Caught a few more gills but still no size, stomachs were starting to growl and 3 ski/wakeboard boats out at the same time, getting hot & gave up at 11:15.
All in all good morning

So in a couple of years we are going to start hearing reports of people catching bearded trout on the west side?
