After having used everything from a cane bottom chair minus the cane:tdo12: to an original "Mystery Spot" anti-gravity tilting outhouse:help: to a fairly large setup with talking ceramic frogs and singing fish:dizzy: I'm ready for a simple, efficient, porta potty for boondocking and tent camping. Any bad memories or suggestions? BTW-the strangest one I ever saw was a vertical pipe with a radial tire for a seat.I don't even want to think about what was living in that tire:yikes: Be safe and have fun! Scott

One of my troops brought this idea to my gun crew when I was in the Marines.
Get yourself a plastic milk crate; you can permanently borrow one from the chow hall. You also need to go to another unit’s barracks and permanently borrow a toilet seat (do this after field day so it will be clean).
Set the toilet seat on the bottom of the milk crate were you want to mount it. Use a marker to mark the area inside the ring of the toilet seat to be cut away from the milk crate. Cut the crate so the waste will fall into the trench and attach the seat.
If the women folk aren’t going to be using the thing you can leave the lid off.

My wifes uncle is a Plumber ( we just call him the "turd herder") Built one entirely out of PVC pipe. If you know what you are doing it takes about 10 minutes to put it together, all the joints are "pinned" with the snap ring type pins, The seat is attatched to the PVC bench with the same pins. Canvas is draped over the whole thing. a couple of those press lights, a small propane heater, a magazine rack. Just like home..hardest part is digging the pit.

Think I can combine the two ideas with a little ingenuity  However, I will defer to a Marine gun crew in any and all situations!!! wally-world probably has what i need!:chillin: Scott

We used to just place a toilet seat over a 5 gallon bucket . Put a little water in the bucket first ,and let her rip .http://michigan-sportsman.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif It can be a little bit of a balancing act to keep the seat on the bucket at times ,but it works .

Ditto, had a portable potty training toilet seat the folds up for the kids. It is supposed to fit over the standard toilet seat. If fits perfectly over a 5 gallon bucket.
