Is anyone going to Colorado for the first rifle season this year?
If so, what area will you be hunting? Anyone going to the Routte Nat. forest area NE of Craig?

I went out for the 1st time in 2002 and was sucessful with a cow tag. I am going again this year and taking my 13 year old son. He is really geeked. I took him out target practicing last weekend with a 30-06 and the little ***** hit the bullseye at 100 yrds on the 2nd shot. except he ain't so little, he is almost 6 foot tall. We are expecting to have 10 hunters in camp this year. Hey bulletslinger, were you anywhere near Bear's Ear peak?

My buddy and I camped in Routte Nat. forest last year for an eight day bow hunt. The elk huntin was pretty good and we had a blast. My buddy went out again this year. He should be on his way home today (9-4) I'll let you know what he ran into out there.

Yeah, also went last year, we hunted 2nd season last year, weather was terrible, almost 80 degrees everyday. We will be hunting the 4th season this year, hopefully better weather.
We are hunting outside Montrose in the Uncompadre (sp.) National Forest.
Good luck to you guys !
