I don't know what it is but anymore, I'd much rather do skulls then have animals mounted, including deer. I don't know what it is about it, in the past I would never have considered doing skulls for anthing other than a predator, but am finding that I seem to be leaning towards skulls more and more.

I'm now up to a Yote, Jackal, Baboon, Zebra, Warthog and Whitetail.

Scarey part is, the wife seems to prefer them also!

I really like the looks of your skulls. I did my own last year and I was pretty pleased with it.

Did you have your mounts done with the beetles?

How do you do a skull like that? I would really like to do one of those....How long does it take to do one of those deer heads?

I followed the directions on here http://www.edersbow.com/publication/1998/December/mount/default.cfm
Took a good afternoon and then I bleached it the next day with peroxide.

The wood is from this site http://www.walnutcreekhardwood.com/shop/products.cfm?catid=42&category=Taxidermy%20Panels&cfid=14896&cftoken=67105687

Yep, love skulls. I have 3 bear, yote, 4 whitetail bucks & 2 doe, coon(which looks just like a tiny bear skull), muskrat, opossum, squirrel, Turkey, and a mouse that I found in the barn. I have a domestic cat skull I found also. I find allot of skulls walking in the woods. The ones I harvest, I boi,l scrape, then soak in peroxide. Don't use beach it will make the bone brittle. You will need to glue the teeth back in too, so don't boil a bunch together or you could end up with a squirrel with canines...
