Well my daughter (14) took her hunter safety course this past weekend along with my niece. After they got done telling me about the hot guys in the class, they said they learned alot.

The class is a lot different then the one I took in 1978. It was a two-day course, 16 hours, with written and practical exams. They do a good job at going over every aspect of hunting, I think. She was a bit concerned with the amount of material they covered and were tested on, but she scored a 94 on her test and passed. Niece scored a 98. They got go out to the range after the written test for some live firing of guns. They shot at a woodchuck target, she score five out of five with the .22.

So, it looks like I will not be hunting alone this year. She is interested in small game and we may try the early youth deer season. Should be a fun fall, between my daughter getting to hunt with me, my bear permit and predator hunting. Think I am going to have a blast.

Now my five year old son wants to hunt, told him he has a few years to go, he will have stick with being my bear baiting buddy for a while.

Happy Hunting
Bill

Thanks guys....wasnt sure if she was going to take an interest in hunting, she has always been a fishin fool. She used to go bird hunting with me when she was about six, but one too many times of Dad sending her through the brush to flush out the birds and I think she got tired of that... But she wants to go deer hunting and squirrel hunting.

hondakid - small world....I live in Atlanta, well actualy out by Vienna Corners, moved up here from the downriver area in tenth grade and graduated from Atlanta in '83. Who's your parents? I most likely know them. Between working at the grocery store, party store, county jail and newspaper the past twenty+ years, pretty much know everyone in town.

no kidding!!!! we moved up there in i believe '86, and graduated in '89. my parents live up by voyer lake (north of town). his name is tom angel.

after i graduated i had to move back downstate to find a job.
boy do i wish i would have stayed up there! driving up north on the weekends to hunt is starting to get old. i really am jealous of anyone that has been able to stay there and make a living for themselves. must be nice!!!!

good luck keeping your daughter interested in hunting. now all you have to do is keep her away from the boys!!!!!
