I don't care (or want to know) what/how you feel personally feel about Ted Nugent.

However, I do care that even on the Outdoor Channel, it is no longer "politically correct" to show the backstraps being removed from a deer, because it is "too graphic".

Apparently the Outdoor Channel wants to prevent any "graphic" scenes from being shown - they are threatening to pull or edit "Spirit of the Wild" so that scenes like that won't be shown.

I say B.S. If you feel the same way, check out this link from Ted Nugents website - http://nugeboard.tednugent.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/082228.html - read about what he is being told by TOC, and then bang an email to TOC at http://www.outdoorchannel.com/feedback.cfm - as hunters, it's the right thing to do!

Thank you for letting me/us know about this. I am an avid viewer of the Outdoor Channel and feel that these shows SHOULD be aired. There isn't enough shows now that do this.

It's all B.S. There is always going to be some Anti-hunting group out there that wants to stop what us hunter's and fisherman and women from watching something we enjoy. IMO I think it's like R-rated programs, the Playboy Channel, or any of the political programs ECT. If you don't want to see or watch it, then change the channel. I changed to WOW cable because of the cost of Comcast. And on WOW's basic cable I don't get the Outdoors channel anymore. Again IMO it's like the dove hunt. Too much politic's involved.

The problem is, there aren't any anti-groups (that I am aware of) pushing for the removal of these scenes - it's other (assumably) hunters and outdoorsmen like you and I - that run the Outdoors Channel that want them removed.

That's right - it's outdoorsmen like us - that are doing this to ourselves. Self-destruction. Feeding on their own. THAT is what is BS.

Doesn't suprise me that it is fellow hunters. Just look at the differences of opinion on this site, QDM, baiting, crossbows, etc., etc., etc. Some fellow sportsmen complain for the politicians to stay out but some of those same sportsmen will be the first to run to politicians for assistance just as fast as any other group to get politics involved.

Yep, I have to agree with you on this one. You definitly hit the nail on the head. But, if it was up to me we would have hunting and fishing, everything having to do with the outdoors all the time in the papers and television all the time.

This is just like the 'outdoor' shows no longer showing, for the most part, the animal going down ... they take the camera off the hit animal.

No matter what the origination of the 'proposed change', our voices as hunters and outdoorsmen and women may possibly make a big difference IF WE RESPOND in numbers to the channel, voicing our objection to removal of the 'offensive' scenes. It is all part of the 'modifying of the game' to make it table fare that joe-blow public has lost touch with, regarding how the cow or chicken becomes food on our table. We hunters CHOOSE to have first hand experience in turning the 'live food' into table-fare... HEALTHY table-fare.

You may be sure the channel will be receiving mailings from THIS hunter! And thanks for the heads-up!!!

Howdy-

While I may not care for Ted, the idea of sensorship by a minority bothers me more!

I'll make MY opinion heard.....

It could be a vast conspiracy by anti-hunters. Or perhaps the Outdoor Life Channel feels that a majority of their target audience isn't interested in that part of the hunt.

Let them know what you think. I'm sure they will give your opinion due consideration.

Yup...I totally agree.

Here's a good one. My sister gave me a wild game cookbook that she figured I'd like. (I do...thanks, Sis.) She wanted a copy of a list in the back of the book - places where you can order elk, venison, etc. HOWEVER, she doesn't want me or anyone else hunting the deer or turkey out of their woods. ????????? I don't get it. :dizzy:

This is why I purchase hunting videos.......I really enjoy the realism of the hunts. These hunting shows on cable tv , just don't do it for me. They are afraid to show real life hunting realities, blood, not so good hits, tracking.ect ect....
