Anybody reading this fishing in the up coming salmon derby this week in da UP. If so, how has the fishing been? I'll be heading up this Tuesday for the derby. Anybody know of a web site for the derby? What baits have been working? The captain says we'll be concentrating fishing in an area called the garden. Never been there before. I am really looking forward to this week. Good luck If I do not see ya on the river.

Don't get lost. :bash:
Have fun. Good luck in the Garden it can get pretty clustered in there with boats but can be good fishing.

I'll be fishing it with my son.
Fish have been hitting on a hot-cold basis: Wednesday night we got skunked, but on Thursday we boated (2) fish, one of which topped 22 pounds.
99% of the anglers use J-Plugs: Green ladderbacks far and away being the hands-down favorite. Mongoose and plain silver are both close seconds.
Have fun at the Garden; you won't believe how tightly packed everyone will be in there. Way too crowded for my liking..... but they do get alot of fish there.
My handle is Unforgiven, gimme a bump on the radio if you guys decide to fish by the head of the rapids/power house.
Good fishing!

Thanks for the information EY. We will be fishing starting Wednesday morning. We will be staying at my buddies place on Sugar Island. We will have three boats out there. I am heading to Bass Pro Sports this morning to pick up some lures and stuff. I'll try to get in touch with you on the radio. Thanks again.
