Just wondered if anyone had any info. they would be willing to share on the walleye fishing on the St. Joe. I heard that they were killing the eyes at Mottville so I went there and fished the dam and the next bridge downstream and nothing but a gill and a sucker, oh and a ton of zebras. Then stopped at Constantine on the way back home and caught a few smally's at the dam, also a bunch of zebras, I didn't think zebras liked moving water but I guess they do. No walleyes anywhere.
Thanks in advance for the help.

The 'eye fishing has been steady on the St. Joe (not hot). I have gone out 3 times in the last week and caught one eye each time. Have been going through some growing pains with a new motor, so I have been a little distracted. Drifting crawlers and trolling plugs are common methods. The fish are a little harder to locate this time of year with all of the boat/ jet ski traffic out there. If it's any consolation, all 3 fish were nearly 20" and very tasty.

The St. Joe fishes better for 'eyes in the fall. Crankbaits in firetiger, chartreuse and metallics work best and you will hook salmon and steelhead as well. My best days last year were in Nov & Dec.
During the summer look for deep, shaded water where you can drift bait rigs and work the cranks.
I have heard from several sources that drifting bobber rigs in shallower water near the holes works but I haven't tried it enough to judge.
Look for irregular bottom structure, eddies and current breaks regardless of season.
