I was wondering if 12' would be high enough for a bear hunting stand. They have a 2 person ladder stand on sale at Bass Pro for $100. Also what broadheads would be best for bear hunting. I shoot 125 grain field tips.

12' is a good height to hunt from with a bow. Set your bait up so you can not see the bear's head when you draw. A few slices of undercooked bacon or honey will help position the bear's head to conceal your movement. Make sure your set up is completely silent.

I would recommend a cut on contact broadheads because the hide is thicker and the muscle much heavier than a whitetail deer.

Wait for the perfect quartering away shot. Do a search on shot placement, you owe it to the bear to place the broadhead exactly perfect. Practice practice and practice some more. Set up for a 15 yard shot.

There is a good book to buy on this subject by Dr. Ken Nordberg "Do It Yourself Bear Baiting & Hunting". It's available on www.Amazon.com or www.bear-hunting.com or by calling (763) 780-3168 $12.95

btw the death moan will send a chill down your spine unless you have ice water in your veins.

Good luck and may your arrow fly true.
