I can't help you out much on the fly fishing, but when you get up there, stop in to Sall-Mar's resort and talk to Ken or Kevin and get some suggestions from them.
I'll be up there for the tournament also, and I'll be at Sall-Mar's, so stop in and say "Hi". I've got nothing going after weigh in's each night. Maybe we can hook up for dinner and make our own U.P. meet-n-greet.
Good Luck during the tournament.

I'd recommend Lindberg's Cove Resort (906) 428-4313 if you're looking for a cabin. Reasonable rates, excellent accomodations, docking, and is a stone's throw from the public launch and Bay Shore tackle.
Three really good places to eat are: Dew Drop Inn in Gladstone, Delona's which is on the left side of US-2 before you get to Escanaba, and the Buck Inn which is on the left side when you first enter Esky.
Stop in at Bay View tackle and Ed will tell you everything you want to know so far as area trout fishing. The upper Esky river is good, for example. Bay View is located between Gladstone & Esky on US-2, just before you come to Delona's restauraunt.
Good luck on the tourney, guys.

Hereford and Hops is very good...you can cook your own steak that you have selected, and enjoy a micro brew. They are located downtown on Ludington Street. Also try this link for more info... www.bay-shore-resort.com (http://www.bay-shore-resort.com)

Lindberg's Cottages for sure! No better host than John and Jeannie. Also, don't forget about the Stone House for food. If you go east, the perch at Nahma Inn are great,...if it is still open (been a few years).
