Just wondering if anyone else here is headed to the pickerel festival in Algonac this weekend? I'll be headed to the campground on Friday morning and staying till sunday--perhaps I'll see ya there?

Since I've never fished the area--got any tips?

Thanks,

DaYoop (Kevin)

I live in the area and I suggest you get there early as the campground will fill up quickly. All in all a great time to be had, if you have kids, they have a fishing contest on the boardwalk in downtown Algonac which attracts about 200 children. The fair will be going on and fireworks on Tuesday night. As for fishing, the walleye action has been slow latley, try drifting the dropoff's with a harness/bottom dragger combo during the am and early pm hours. After dark, anchor at the mouth of the north channel at the corner of russel island (look for all the boats) and try your luck with pencil plugs. Hope this helps and have a great time. Prior to the fireworks, they are having a boat parade down the channel with many boats decorated with different themes, very comical to say the least!!! :D

Thanks for the information, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately I didn't get it till I got back, but I plan on going back down during the week, maybe I'll try some of the tips out. Thanks again,

by the way, the festival was a ton of fun--we went fishing in anchor bay and I caught my first muskie as well.
