Is anyone catching anything in either Lake Cadillac or Lake Mitchell? How are the weeds???
Will be there for the week of July 4 and was curious where the hot spots might be. Any/all info appreciated.

In the past i've done well on Mitchell in the bay on the far west side for pike.. There's a launch there also. I've read that the the east end of Mitchell where the canal runs into Cadillac is good also, some pretty deep water there. Watch out for b.s. reports from the bait shops, if you listen to them the fish never turn off.
good one jimbos. i've heard alot of bogus reports from bait shops up there.

Oh yeah almost forgot, I would wade or when I got a boat, work the shallows after dark, casting jitterburgs. Nothing like listening to the blurp/blurp/blurp of a jitterbug you can't see, and then SPLASH!!!!!!! as a bass tries to whack it. Used to do this in the bay on the westside of Mitchell.
As far as those bait/tackle stores. How many times have you seen great reports from Cadillac/Mitchell on the Thursday night fishing shows or in the DNR reports? Almost weekly, just watch.
But I can't remember one good report from a actual fisherman being posted either on this site, or the last 3-4 years on the Greatmich site, never!

Yah I know what you mean about good reports. I told them I wanted to sit by their door waiting for the guys to come in with limits. Well alls they did was laugh. Now for a report. I fished their(Mitchell) last Thursday and while I didn't get my limit of gills I was pretty close when the storm chased me off. I fished the west shore by Big and Little cove. I mainly wanted gills but threw out a leech on a slip in case a walleye came thru. I brought home 20 gills 7-9" and caught but released 4 Bass 3-5 lbs on leeches. I used cricketts and waxies and the waxies did better.
