Is it only one rocker not moving? It sure sounds like a failed lifter, its not holding hydralic/oil pressure. To check it hold down and keep pressure on the pushrod and then turn the motor over, see if it will go up and down. If it doesnt take the rocker arm off and pull the lifter. Hope the bottom of the lifter is smooth (or a roller?) if its concave you may have wiped out the camshaft. Check the lobe for wear. I'll say a prayer for you that its only a bad lifter.

Dont be so fast to blame the manufacturer! From what I read in your past posts I'd be more inclined to question the ability of the facility/mechanic that's doing the repairs. If you did "Just" have it "completely" overhauled and now have issues with the water pump, cam and the like thoses types of failures are not usually that of the "manufacturer", to many times I've seen an engine (usually in a car, but the same type/configuration) with a wiped out cam that was usually "just rebuilt" that someone did or didnt so something they were supposed to! Another question, Didn't who ever do the work give you any kind of warranty? I wouldnt be shelling out anymore money for something I already paid for! Far be it that Mercury or anyone else builds the "perfect" engine but at least put the blame where the blame is due!

Yes you are right I am checking into the Rockwell today and going from there to see who i will go after from what i find out...
It is just i cant believe that a dang rubber seal wore a groove in the cam to make it leak!!!! In that short of time.
I will wait till i find out more of what happen before i really go off the deep end.

I am glad you got me comed down yesterday because the cam shaft did turn out to be with in Spec. It was on the low side of it but all in all it was there.
So now i dont now how i am going to tell the marina the cam was OK and that they possibly did something wrong in assy. or something.
Thanks

Jack,
After looking at your cam yesterday and doing a lot of thinking, I'm convinced your "service center" screwed up your rebuild job somehow. I hate to say that, because I used to think a lot of them.

Now what?.....

I say, have a good seasoned mechanic take a look at that cam and give you an opinion.

MadJack I see your from BayCity. How about RPM services, they are a complete engine shop. They probably could check your problem out. They do everything from hi performance to industrial stuff. Im sure they could help you.

No problem guys, I have a friend who is in the automotive repair business. He takes all his machine work to them. They are always reasonable and the quality of work is good. Plus its nice to deal with people that are in the area. Hope you get her back on the water soon.
