I picked up a 1999 Fisher Hawk and it has a Minn Kota Autopilot trolling motor on it. The idea is great but I can't seem to make it work right. I suspect a problem.
When I set it for a direction, it will occasionally wander off course. Sometimes it will stay on for quite some time (10-15 minutes) then it will start spinning! Sometimes it does it right after I set the course. I heard that low voltage could be a problem. So I replaced the old battery (the previous owner said he thought it was going bad). I also tested the voltage in the leads right at the motor (12.5 volts).
But its still doing it. It makes it unusable. I just found a receipt for a repair that the guy had made (replaced a cirucit board?).
Do I have a big problem? Any history of this happening?
