Has anyone else seen the large amounts of dead fish, mostly bass and carp, from 7 mile up along the grosse pointe and st. clair shores shorelines the past 10 days???.....I saw so many one day between the Grosse pointe yacht club and fords cove that I stopped and counted 15 or so dead fish, all in various stages of decomposition, from still barely swimming to 5 days dead.

I am a bit concerned...andy

You know a popular method for the live-bait fishing locals is the ol' 3-way rig with a spottail for smallmouths. However, when these ding-dongs don't really know what how a smallmouth picks up live bait (the typical tap-tap, not smash), the bass tends to have the hook as deep as its gullet before the person knows it is even there. Now, not many people fish smallies for food, just for fun. So, most of them are released, and hence.....injured fish equals dead fish.

That's all I would make of it, having grown up on that lake. I always see dead bass and carp on the float, in the various stages you described, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

FISH ON!!!

I agree. There has been pretty high pressure on the bass with the tournament. Coincidence that the dead fish showed up after the weekend? Don't think the weather killed them, this is bass weather.

It's from the fisherman, I'll bet my favorite hat.
These bass are so agressive, they inhale a tube or any other bait.
Some don't make it.

Those smallies are aggresive! My freind who just recently fished a torunament on Lake St. Clair almost lost because the fish were inhaling the tubes so deep, they were injuring themselves. I heard carp, bass, and pike are all found along the shores!?

Ya they Inhale those baits and when the fishermen set the hook it does damage to the fish. IT's not our faults its the fishes fault

Someone told me they saw bow fishermen shooting carp and throwing them back into the lake. That is another possiblity.
