John boat?

Could someone give me the pros and cons of a john boat? This would be used for fishing inland lakes only. I have a 12 fishing boat now. This is very small and hard to stand up in.
It seems to me a 16’ john with a 20 hp would be perfect. Fast, very wide, stable, and inexpensive. I don’t need any steering, trim and tilt or any frills. Your comments?

The only thing I can say bad about them is you take a good beating in any kind of chop.
