I just bought a new handgun, it's only a Browning 22 Deerslayer. I'm now looking at a 32 handgun. My question is this, I have no idea of how to care for one of these types of guns, or even cleaning. You see I decided to start buying them becouse the laws are getting so stiff. I think I'm going to buy about 5-6 total and I'm not sure as to which ones. Any Ideas?
Do you clean a hand gun like a rife?
Do you use the rod and swabs?
Must I take the gun apart?
I do keep the guns in a safe......

Yes you can clean your handgun in the same manner as your rifle.
Swab with solvent, Brush,Swab with solvent till clean, Swab with solvent and let sit 5-10 minutes, swab with dry patch. Careful what kind of solvent you use. Some solvents are harmful to the metal if it sits for too long. Breach first is always the best way if you can. S/S and plastic coated rods are a must. Aluminum cleaning rods can become imbedded with shavings harder than the surface (bore) you are cleaning resulting in gouges or scratches.
As always follow the instruction manual for cleaning and dismantling instructions and you'll be fine. As with all semi-autos there is going to be a build-up of unburnt powder which should be removed with every cleaning.
And last but not least. Only use enough lube to get the job done. Sparingly is the word here. Any more than necessary and you'll only give the powder and resdue and, God help you if you drop it in the dirt, something to get ahold of.
Hope this helps.

Where can I find some info on this gun? I looked on Brownings website and couldn't even find the model. Also Gunbrokers.com and AuctionArms.com didn't have any auctions with this gun.

I am interested because if I play my cards right I am going to get a Thompson Encore later this year--probably the 7mmX08 model.
