My wife and I are taking a vacation the second week of July. Does anyone know of any small secluded lakes where we can go to camp and catch some panfish, walleye, bass or pike. We want to stay away from big lakes since we only have a small flatbottom boat and very small motor. I understand that you may not want to give out much information over this site since everyone would be reading this and then it would no longer be secluded, but if you are willing to share and trust that my wife and I would not tell anyone about the secret spots you can e-mail us privately at thehills7176@hotmail.com. We are only looking to get away from the crowds and catch enough fish to cook up for supper each night. We will be taking our gooseneck horse trailer to camp in so it can't be too far out in the backwoods! Any suggestions are appreciated!!!!
Thanks!!!

Come on over to the Yankee Springs/Gun Lake area. There's lots of little lakes with big fish and even a couple of small quiet campgrounds in the area. Send me an e-mail if you're interested and I can give you more details. Big Al

Welcome to the site misportsman. Hope you find the vacation you seek.
There are many areas to fish between Grayling and Gladwin, as well as Saginaw! If I were u, I would look on mapquest for some lakes or topo maps and search the net for locals you could contact at a bait store!!! Check in this forum...Gladwin lakes, and Grayling lakes!!!!

Splitshot, is that the Dorner lake that is just up the road from the Dublin General Store? If it is then the rumors you've heard about nice size fish are true. I caught my biggest bass ever out of there 2 years ago, 6.5 lbs! Caught her on a hulapopper right at dusk. Speaking of Dublin, I need to make a run up there and get some jerky :) Big Al

The Dublin store is one of the greatest little stores on earth isn't it?

Yeah it sure is. I have to leave my wallet in my car and only bring in enough cash to buy a couple of pounds, otherwise I'd probably end up walking out of there with a grocery cart full of jerky!:D

I didn't know that they were doing the mail order thing, I'll have to give it a try. Now that I've been thinking about it I may just have to stop by on my way up to the cherry festival and buy a bag or two.

First of all. welcome to the site. I know of a few camp grounds that are neat the water. There is a compground up in oscoda or near oscoda on the foote lake. There is a lot of different kinds of fish in there. If you wanna try a river, the shiwasse(sorry if spelled wrong) is a also a great area. There is a campground right on the river called walnut hills. I had the oppurtunity to camp right on the river and the bass fishing was un believeable. Hot fly was pink. I wish i knew where it was but i don't. Those are the one that i can remember. Search on the net. I am absolutely positive you will find some. I found out last week that there are some nice campp grounds with lakes in port huron. Try a search near there. Good luck!
