I just started fishing Lake St. Clair and have never fished tubes before so I tried the other day while others were killing the smallies I hooked one and it was lucky at all best. So needless to say I am looking for some help the lake is big and the new bait I guess is confusing to me sorry but like everyone else I have to learn so can anyone give some advice??

Thanks
Jeff

Jeff, someone told me "you really can't fish a tube incorrectly". Basically, lightly twitch the tip of your rod as it sinks. After that bounce it abrubtly off the bottom. Vary the speed, and power and catch fish...period. I always staretd my kids off with tube baits cuz seriously, all you have to do is get em in front of a bass! <----<<<

That is correct. U can rig a tube many ways and can fish them many ways. Keep on trying. Try diffrent sizes and colors. And diffrent size hooks

Thanks so just toss it off the side off the boat does it work better to allow the boat to float or does it work better if you anchor?
And if I just allow the boat to float should I retrive the bait or just let it continue draging on the bottom?

I use them alot! I like to fish them on slow action rods, they have a great feel...some people like faster rods, it all depends! I use spinning rods for all my tubing unless I am flipping in heavy cover for bass. I will rig them with darter jigheads, and texas style! I also insert rattles and internal weights for different presentaions!

You need to create some type of action. Short snaps/twitches of your rod tip...reel out the slack ets ...etc..etc <----<<<
