mid to late oct. fishing

i have a friend coming up from dallas in the middle of oct. my fall focus is steelhead in cleveland that time of year but i want to show him the north branch of the au sable. how is it that time of year?

Great for Trout, but Salmon and Steelhead don't make it that far upstream.

Id have to check the fishing guide, but i believe it closes october 1st.

I fished the North Branch on October 17th and 18th last year....gin clear water, brookies in fall spawning color, trees turning etc. Fishing was excellent. Certain areas can be fished flies only year round. Good Luck.
