What is the best shooting most reliable most accurate hunting bow out there right now?

I am looking for next years bow. What is cmming out that is going to be the bow for next year.


I want something with good brace height easy to shoot etc.


I am going take the old pse mach ten through one more season.

I am still looking for something I like better than that bow.

Whatever feels best in your hand. There is not one bow made nowadays that is more accurate than another. Bows don't make the shot...we do. What I hate about some companies marketing strategy is the fact that they pay the best archers in the world to shoot their bow...then they claim the bow won all of these shoots etc., that's kinda like saying guns actually do kill people, or it's the pens fault for a mispelled word.

I'll give you my honest opinion, and that's that there's not one bow out there right now better than that Mach10. There may be some that are more asthetically please but that Mach10 is a sweet shooter.

All bows have their pros and cons.

Mathews bows have no valley and if you relax a little bit your in for a ride. Their strings stretch like none others out there and requires a lot of maintenance to keep in time...yes, that's right, single cams go out of time. Reports of their customer service isn't that great either.

Hoyt, some problems with bent risers, but that was a remote problem and taken care of. The Cam.5 is the best cam system out on the market today just short of the Martin Nitrous 'X' cams. Does require a little timing but just a little after initial shootin like all bows. Laminated limbs...best you can find.

Bowtech...can you say speeeeeeed. A little harsher draw cycle but you get a lot of speed out of these bows. Great for hunting mainly because you can get 400+ grain arrows shooting around the 290's and up. Also, bowtech is the currently the fastest growing archery company over the last 3 years...nuff said on that, their doing something right.

And since you do have a PSE...I must suggest either the MachPRO, or the Scorpion. Both bearing the NRG cam, smooth and fast, very reliable and PSE has the best customer service in the industry.

Can't speak for the other brands, but in the Mathew's line the one that most pros use for hunting is the LX.....best balance of both speed and reliability in a somewhat short package. If you wanted to stick with the Mach 10 length, you couldn't beat the Conquest III.

Bobby Eyler from lower MI, one of Mathews top Factory Pro Staff shooters just used his Conquest III to win the 3rd leg of IBO's Triple crown. Bobby is the first Factory Pro in MI to ever win a national Men's Open Pro title in the sport of 3D shooting, one a gold medal over in France in last years international 3D event, and is literally one of the top 3-4 shooters in the world.

I see Doc doesn't have much experience with the Mathews bows...but I'll help him and others out. Mathews strings stretch very, very little. In fact, I've owned around 25 of them, and after I set my peep, loop, etc., straight back, shoot 100 times or so, the peep will not move again...EVER! all 25 bows, since 1994. Also, this does not effect the supposed "timing" at all. Just shoot the thing and forget about it! In a typical year, I would get my new bows in the spring, set them up, put a 1/2 twist in the string after a 100 shots or so, and shoot them the rest of the summer, literally 1000's of arrows at 5 grains per pound and 284-285 fps, with virtually no movement anywhere. Any good quality bows are all the same in this area.

I'd guess that 90% of the bows made today will shaft arrow after arrow after arrow even when out of tune, out of time and with the wrong arrows as long as they're straight and the same weight...out a a shooting amchine like a hooter shooter.

Point is...it's the shooter Robert. Pick a bow that feels comfortable and that you can shoot well and go with it. The Mach 10-12 are great machines. Heavier than many bows now but if you like that feel I'd look at the Martin Lineup. The Salyr, Cougar 3, Razor X with the Nitrous cams are all a bit heavy compared to most new bows in 04. Smoothest "Speed Bow" cams I've seen as well.

I'm gonna drag her through one more season and while I'm looking for a replacment.

My back up bow is getting way out dated and I always like to have two shooters ready at all times.

If you like the PSE's, you may want to try out an Archery Research. A.R. is part of PSE and their bows are extremely smooth shooting and are very quiet out of the box. The Ram Cam has a very nice wall with good speed to boot.

I actually shoot a Hoyt Vipertec but was very impressed with the AR-34. I added a set of spider legs to the string leeches that come standard from the factory. Out of the box the string twang is about the only sound it makes but with a set of spider legs or cat whiskers, it's almost silent.

Thats the one I am going with the AR 31.

I shot it this weekend up at East bay Ed's place.

Very nice bow.

I am gonna have Ed tune the mach10 up for one more year and put that 31 on lay away.

Man....I go back and forth and back and forth. I LOVE my Bowtech(s) :D But the little shpdown the street was the #1 seller of AR in MI last year and has been trying to get me into one for a year now.

I won though....he's selling Bowtechs now too :D

You'll love that bow though. It may take you a bit to get used to the shorter ATA but it's a beauty.

I don't know what cam I shot but that is the one I want.

Ed had me shoot a few but that little bow of his just fealt right.

Here's a tip McCoy...spend the $ and get the sims modular dampners. The AR's are tapped in 4 spots. On the back side, one high, one right behind the stabilizer tap and one below. Fill those holes with the Sims mads and tell me that it isn't the quietest, most shock free bow for the poundage and speed you've shot. Absolutely amazing.

I'll lay money on that. :D

Oh you are correct sir.

That is the smoothest bow I have ever shot.

I pulled it back and I thought man Ed seems like he would be pulling at least 65-70 #lbs.

But the bow fealt like it was set at 50. I asked him why he had it set low.

He said it is said at 70 and I could hardly believe it.

That bow was so quite and I didn't feal any shock.

Oh I gotta have it :p
