My son will be turning 14 in September. My wife & I offered to take him to Cedar Point for his b-day & he thought that was great. Imagine my suprise when he & I were out canoeing together 2 weeks ago & he asks if we can go to C.P. next year and get him something else for his b-day. I was waiting for a video game or dvd request. Instead he asked if we could get a flat bottom boat so he could row it like he does in Grandpa's boat. He said he did not need a new boat, just something that doesn't leak. Needless to say I have been looking for a used jon boat for 2 weeks. I told my parents out of state about my search and they decided to pitch in with my money & buy him a new boat. My in-laws liked the idea and are helping out also. I can't wait to see his face when we give him his new boat. This sure beats another indoor game or video. He & I will be bow hunting & his 1st gun hunt this year and now we will be out fishing in his boat.
It is a great feeling when your child becomes your friend and wants to do things with you.

WOW!!! Thats great!!!! I wish my nephew would part from the TV and video games and discover the world of outdoors. I try and try but he wont budge. But I guess if his parents dont care if he never goes outside then I kinda have my hands tied. :bash:

Have fun fishing with your boy. :fish: :fish2:
