Hey everyone, I just bought a bow for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Got it sighted in and I am starting to hit the target:D .

Anyway, I was just wondering about stabilizers. If it would be good to have one or is it just an expensive accessory that I don't need.

Any other info on bow shooting and hunting would be helpful.

thanks

Buying a stabilizer is a personal thing. The best thing to do is go to your local Pro Shop and try a few with your set up. Shoot the bow with all the equipment you will hunt or target shoot with.

Every person and bow will act differant. Try them (stabilizers) all and see for your self.

I like the Doinker......the name kills me!

I HAVE TRIED MANT SYLES OF STABALIZERS AND SO FAR THE BEST I'VE

TRIED AND CURRENTLY USE IS THE ONE FROM SIMMS. NOT ONLY DOES IT

HELP TO HOLD STEADY IT REDUCES THE NOISE AND VIBRATION FROM MY

MATHEWS MQ32. I THINK I IT'S LIKE DOC SAID PERSONAL PREFERENCE. TRY

THEM OUT FIRST. MOST BOW SHOPS THAT HAVE A RANGE WILL LET YOU

SHOOT AND TRY THEM OUT BEFORE YOU PURCHASE THEM. HERE IS THE LINK

TO THE ONE I FINALLY ENDED UP WITH. COULDN'T BE

HAPPIER. http://www.limbsaver.com/limbsaver/archery/modsys.aspx

First of all, congratulations on your new addiction. :D
I believe that a stabilizer is necessary, it greatly reduces noise and vibrations. I agree with the others, experiment with different weights, lengths, styles before you buy if possible. Good luck.

I use one, My brother does not, I took mine off my bow once and put it on his. He shot the bow, said the vibration was less. and the bow wasn't as loud. But he said "no thanks" he didn't like the way it changed what he was used to feeling when he shot. He takes deer with his set up so I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it. Me I don't like the way my bow felt without it.
