I have a 23' Sea Ray Weekender and was wanting to get a trolling motor for it...was wondering if some of you experts would advise me on what size kicker motor would be the best for this size boat!!! Any advice would be appreciated!

A 8 hp would be plenty for that boat for walleye and salmon.

I have had two SeaRays and two kicker motors....both have worked perfectly.

First boat, 20ft Ray had a 7.5 Johnson with a LONG SHAFT, its imperative and
absolutely important that you get a LONG SHAFT...without it, your engine will
be out of the water on rought days....

Second boat, 26"8" or 268 Weekender I have a 8.0HP Evenrude which does
it all...it can actually take me off the lake in emergency, troll all day on three
gallons of gas, and I never have to raise or lower the engine becuase of the
deep V which raises the engine up high enough when I get up on plane....which is real fast since I have a fast planeing prop....

Mercury with a long shaft is ok too...might cost a few more bucks!
But, 8hp should be plenty good .....

There are 2 engines on this site for sale that I am considering...one is a 6hp Evinrude short shaft...the other is a 9.9 merc, short shaft.....the 6 is a 98' and the merc also is around a 98'....my swim platform seems low compared to most and I believe for the most part a short shaft will be just fine.......just have to decide between the 2...the 9.9 is painted camo...I would have to repaint it black....can get either for the same money???? Any recommendations??
