Do you night fish for Browns? If so, where do you fish( not specifically, of course), what time of night, ideal conditions, what do you use, and do you have any good stories?

Love it!!!! Typically you have the whole river to yourself. I mainly fish the Ausable area, and a couple times the manistee. Usally start out about 11 pm, and fish untill Im dead tired. Ideal conditions I think are the new moon nights, When its pitch black! My perferred flys are mice, HLS Blasters, A white Muddler looking fly, and I have a crazy creation that I have tied up with sparkle chenille, rubber legs, a little calf tail, a splash of glow in the dark crystal flash, and a deer hair head. That fly has produced some heart stopping brick hits!

Fish all night, Sleep all day!!! ;)

People fish during the day?? :D

I love fishing for steelies and browns at night. Floating big shiners under a slip bobber in the surf, or casting spoons either way its my favorite way to fish in the spring.

I'll be in the NW in a couple of weeks chasing those nighttime pigs.......deerhair poppers really get their attention, and no, I don't mean bass.:)

Funny you should ask. I just spent weekend on the Au Sable night fishing for browns. There is a good chance that I may never fish for trout in the daylight hours again. Throwing mice towards the banks is too much fun. Saw the Northern Lights saturday night too. Would not have seen them from our campsite on the mainbranch b/c when we got back they were covered by the trees. If we hadn't been fishing on the north branch we would have never seen them. Plus the surprise of the strike and the weight of those big browns bending you rod is great.

I may have a story or 2 to tell, what with midnight chanting cults, mating porcipines, bears, drunks, angry beavers and the somewhat unexplainable noises of the night, you tend to rack up a few stories!
Mousin hasn't really been that good this year. My best fish have been taken in the middle of the day (seriously around noon). A lot of skunked nights so far and a couple of really technical teenagers.

I don't use mice during the day or at night. I am not a fan of the rodent.

Ah yes, fellow brethren of the extreme mousin anglers ....

Last night was a perfect night. Calm, warm, and muggy.

I myself have a dozen patterns I always carry with me, with the mouse treating me very well. Cast, strip, strip, give a few squeak-squeaks, and wait for the sound of someone turning over a mayonaise jar of air underwater.

Mousin's a blast! In fact, I dont remember having that much fun since the hogs ate my little brother ....
