I took the family up to the U.P for vacation for the last 4 days. We stayed in Paradise and Friday night we where out at the campfire cooking up banana splits over the fire when my wifes eyes got huge as she was looking over my shoulder, I turned to see a bear walking about 50 yards away. I ran and got my camera out of the van and started to take pics. The bear walked up next to the hotel in the parking lot. I got within 35 ft of him and took another pic as he was looking at me, I figured the flash would of scared him off, but instead he came walking at me. when he got about 20 ft away I decided that was close enough so I yelled at him and after a couple of tries he finally headed off ( I had the van next to me to get in if needed to get in ;) )
It was a great experience for the wife and kids, but It made me even more bummed I didn't get drawn this year. The bears are getting pretty brave.
The locals say they are seeing more bears this year than ever before.
I would attach a pic or two, but have no idea how to attach in this thread :confused:
