Went out with my grandpa today to give his new(ly) repaired 7.5hp evinrude a try. So I decide to grab some bait before I head out to his house (GR to Cedar Springs) and I stop ol' Johnnys on Bridge st. @ 5:50 am ....closed. Ah well, theres a shop in Cedar anyway. Get to gramps, have coffee, and head out. Stop by Cedar sporting goods....closed. Its about 7:30 now, so im ready to fish. Decided to stop by Wilderness Dreams sporting goods in Sand lake, on the way to Bass Lake (in Gowen)....closed, doesn't open until 9 am!!! Who the heck waits until 9 am to get bait and fish. Finally we stop by Howard City, to a bait shop that opens at 5am on weekdays, get some crawlers, and haul butt to the lake. After all is said and done, we got on the lake about 8:30 ish. Anyway, fished all day until 3:30 with bobbers and worms. Ended up with 43 keeper panfish, with a few 8-9" pumpkinseeds and bluegill. We also caught a couple bass each, with the biggest about 11". It was an awesome day to be out on the water, and my grandpa and I had a great time catching! Anyone curious about bass lake pm me.
