Keeping an eye on both the present weather while fishing and keeping tuned into any weather, or severe weather forecasts is a big part of my job as a charter Captain. The safety of the people aboard my boat is and should alway be the first concern to any charter Captain worth his salt. So, with a trip booked for tomorrow and this coming weekend I thought I'd look at the forecasts. At first glimps everything looked to be O.K. And indeed it just may turn out that way. But check out what the GUSTS may get to tonight in the face of the aproaching storms. I don't believe I ever seen gusts being set at that severity without being called something more severe. :yikes:

Was out in that junk last sat.and it was not fun at all. Keeping an eye on the sky and looking at weather reports should be first and foremost before any lines are tossed. There have been times when the weather channel has missed but I would rather error on the safe side than put my family in harms way. On by 7- off by 11- is not a bad rule of thumb if you put other information with it. I will make it a habit when out on the water to monitor the weather channel every hour or so and watch the water for tell tale wind shifts. Safe not sorry is how I gage my actions as captain. Out on the water sat & sun. Hope that all those fish I have been seeing on the graph will finally start to get active. It has been frustrating the past few weeks!!! DC

Everything blew through the Muskegon area by 7 pm....I was on the water by 8:30 - flat and warm. Managed to hook into the biggest cat fish I've ever seen, probably 25"! I don't know any good recipies, so sent'em back. The system did seem to shut things down though, fished the same spot the night before and couldn't keep a line in the water.

Yeh Walleye I saw this same thing as I was planning to fish out of Sterling and remembered a similiar front this spring. The cold front shut the fish down and the 1 to 3 footer were really 3-4 footers and by the time I got to the sputnic I was sorry I went. My back and is still sore for the pounding. Plan on going out on Monday. If it is still blowing I may just go to LSC or fish the river near Sugar Island.
