Have fished this flooded swamp/lake/trash numerous times and still don't like it. There is so much trash that everything looks good. Have fished the weed lines and drops in the lakes and have hit some trash and only come up w/ 14-15" bass at best. Toons and docks don't even hold them. Anyone want to share thier secrets on where the big ones hide out? They all go back into the water.

if you're lookin for larger bass, stay deep..Have taken bucketmouths to 4 pounds out of tubbs and pike that ran nearly 10 from there ..if its pike you are after work the weeds at the channel mouths between lakes, if smallies are what u seek try drifting big evans.....if all else fails get a good recipe for turtle soup!..lol.the larger bass seem to like the bigger fatter rattling type cranks..the pike anything selendrical with lots of flash....bronzebacks are the toughest, look for any hard surface bottom..more in the evans area than tubbs..eyes are practically non existant, to my knowledge the DNR does not stock this lake.what, its comprised of 7 or 8 smaller bodies now all connected..every once in awhile you hear a rumor of an eye caught..best luck was always lowlight hours..at 'high' sun these fish seem to disappear

Thanks for the reply. I've heard there are smallies but thought maybe a few but not worth targeting. I bet if you did find hard bottom, it would be fun. Not much of it in this chain. When you say deep, how deep you talkin w/ the largies? I normally fish the 12-14ft sparse weed humps/flats when they move out but haven't on Martiny. 12-14ft for me is as deep as I go but if deeper is where they're at then that's where I'll go. My favorite baits are the weedless tube rigged w/ a simple split shot or bullet weight. Also the the senko wacky in the 12-14 ft stuff and let it sit(as long as the weeds aren't too think)

are you aware of the deep holes(actual lakes) in tubbs, lost and boom lakes? I start at the 10 foot level(actual old shore) and work to the middle..as deep as 35 foot..i use a yellow lizard or chartruese shad tail on a plain jig head to reach real deep, but until i reach the 18/20 foot level i stick with the 'fat' rattlin cranks..this is where my largest bucketmouths have came from..for the smallies, big evans has 3 or 4 holes and a couple of humps, much harder bottom than most of the flooding..i have rattling jig heads that i use in conjunction with pumpkin or crayfish colored tubes, the little bit of sound seems to help them find it....p.s. i have also had bite offs with these, i assume, some larger pike hangin deep...
