Wulp.....I'm excited all over again.

Our regular group of guys, along with a couple of newbys just firmed up our yearly reservations with Dave Kimmers Charter service out of Shelter Bay, for the 29th through the 31st of August on Stannard Rock, Lake Superior. Few other things hold the charm, excitiment and inert dangers that jigging for lakers 40 miles out on virtual underwater cliffs 60 feet down, in surrounding water depths approcahing 400 feet, on "The big lake they call Gitchigumee". :tdo12:

And the prospect of hooking a true Great Lakes (native) trophy Laker is always possible as well. I'll be taking my digital camera along and will have some picutures and maybe write an article on the whole Stannard Rock experience when I get back. Wish me and the crew luck.

Im jeolous. If you dont mind me asking, is it any more expensive than a charter on lake Huron? Ive always wanted to try it. Its so far out Im sure it takes alot of fuel to get there and back.

It's costing the 6 of us $350.00 each for two days fishing and three nights lodging. Not bad considering (like you said) the wear and tear the 80 mile per day of running and the other particulars of cleaning and bagging all the fish caught intails. It turns out to be about a 10 hour day or more for the Captain. And then to turn around and do it all over again the next day. :tdo12:

I'm personally thinking I both couldn't or wouldn't do it myself, day after day like Dave and his Son-In-Law do. :fish2:

Do you happen to have contact info. What's the best time to go? I'd like to put together a trip for cousins, a brother and an uncle. We try to do a fish trip a year at differnet locations.
Thanks for the help

I forgot to mention, the web site for Kimer came up blank. Obviously you recommend Kimer's???

RK.

I guess I would recommend Daves service. His trips have always been safe and well ran. We've always booked the Mid-to Late August period and have had good success both fish and weather wise. Looking at the 2004 Michigan Charter boat directory, I don't see that Dave even has a web site. His phone number though is 906-892-8136.
