On Lake St. Clair, basic rules of bass fishing are meaningless

WINDSOR, Ontario. -- Every once in a while, anglers face a situation where everything they think they know about a subject simply doesn't apply. Now, especially on Lake St. Clair, is one of them.
As smallmouth bass move into their summer haunts, the first three rules of bass fishing -- structure, structure, structure -- becomes almost meaningless. Much of this lake lacks any hint of bottom structure; it is a bowl-like unit with long, barely sloping (maybe an inch over 100 yards) flats.

On that lake, which despite it's size has a complete water changeover every 5 days, the current edges/ thermal breaks and clarity changes ARE the structure.
