Wandered out irish hills way for a little fishin....Lots of the pleasure crowd when we launched(launch is gravel, but handled our boat easily),bout 5 others in lot when we got there..The rains and storms hit about 40 minutes into the fish..raced to launch waited it out bout 75 minutes, bilged and went after them in earnest.great little lake some weeds, but not and over abundance, good depth to nearly 40 foot and lots of sunken island or bar type areas..water temp76 air temp 81 at 4;30..air temp dropped to 65 after rains, water temp registered high74..We took too many largemouth to count(3 folks fishin) most 11 to 14 inches with a couple over, and 4 pike, the largest goin a tad over 26 inches.actual time on the water about 2 1/2 hours, virtually not 5 minutes went by without a fish.they seem to enjoy the jointed shad raps in perch or bleeding perch color..fished basically the outside weeds edges of the sunken islands or bars..deep bite(I TRIED JIGGIN THE EYES) drew nuttin ,but casting was the ticket.boat positioned in 18 foot casting to weed edge at about 5 foot.didn't even get a chance to explore whole lake the action was so consistant..Lake is purported to walleye, perch, gills etc..all we got were the bass and pike..Talked to 4 other boats, guys in the lowe reported good pike action trollin rapalas, another reported good panfish(lots sorting) on worms, another said they had a mix of panfish and bass on crawlers..4th boat fishin the depths for eyes and had ZILCH.we will be back!
