Sims String Leeches

Can you install Sims string leeches without a bow press? Saw in Cabella's a device to spread your string, anyone use this to put in a string leech?

I have done it a bunch of times, with the help of my hunting partner. I have him draw my bow then while he is at full draw I work the string apart with an extremely blunt letter opener and insert the leech. No problems having done it a dozen times. They sell a little wedge that won't harm the string.

Full draw works...scary unless you reeeealllyyy trust the guy drawing :D

You can do it rest but it's not usually recommended. Too easy to break a strand under pressure. That being said....it can be done but be very carefull and use a VERY blunt instrument.

What is the advantage of being at Full Draw to do this?

At full draw on most compounds you have letoff...releases a lot of pressure on the string and minimizes chances of breaking strands in the string.
