HELP! Heading up to west side of the bay this weekend, and thought about going out of Pine River area. Any reports of perch in the area, and if so, what depth/how far out?

Can't help much, but I picked up a few really nice ones on walleye rigs last week straight out of Pinconning in 21 FOW. Dragged 'em around for a bit to make sure they were dead before I brought them in the boat  , but if you are paying attention, you might be able to pin them down better. Good Luck

Hmmm. Sounds like nothing good at all?? I know they don't jump into the boat in July, but maybe I'll head to Lake St. Clair instead? They're getting a few anyway.

While in Franks today I over heard a couple guys talking about the perch in the bay. They have said it has been terrible. One guy said he heard of some guys getting 40 fish but that was for a full day and 4 guys. He did the math and said thats not good for the time put in. The one guy who worked at Franks said it has been this way. They are getting good catches of walleye but the perch fishing is in the tank.

Thanks guys for all the info. I know they're getting a few up at AuGres, but I wasn't planning on going that far up. I may give it a shot anyway, or go to LSC instead. We'll see. Thanks again. ;)

I know the last time I fished the bay for them, it seems to be getting alot harder to get them to bite. I think the water clarity from the zebral mussels maybe is making them more line shy? I've found going to a single gold hook, or little 1/64 jighead tipped with crawler, wiggler, or minnow head will entice them alot more than the traditional perch rigs. Also try 2 to 4lb. line. This seems to make a big difference and the light tactics seems to produce alot larger ones to bite. Hope this helps anyone. If its calm enough, try a slip bobber too ;)
