On Saturday we took a muskie charter, my first time fishing for this awesome fish. The proceeds went to a charity, so it was great to know we were helping those in need, and having a blast doing it! We launched from 9 Mile (behind Andiamo's) at 11:00 a.m. and had rods set near the dumps in Canadian water by 11:45. Weather started mild and overcast, changing to 80+ degrees and clear. Great day was had by all - 9 hits and 4 fish landed. All rods were producing, boat/down/board rods all had fish. 5 anglers + captain on a 27 foot Sport Craft; it was a nice comfortable trip. Here's a picture of my 44", 15lber caught on a board rod, 4oz. 20 feet back, with a non-jointed stick bait, the color was gold/brown. Biggest fish I have caught in my life. Other fish were 40", 30" and 24"; all released.

Congrats Kroppe! :woohoo1: That trip could cost you some major buckaroos. At $15 - $20 per bait (and of corse you need a few hundred), it adds up quick! Just curious, which captain did you fish with?

When do the ski's start packing on the pounds? I'm sick of catching 42" to 44" that are only 15# - 17# (well, it could be worse!).

The big boys are out there! I would try around the fire cracker. You won't get numbers but you might get a hog! Good luck! :)

PencilPlugger: They start putting on weight after the second cold front in September that is what triggers their feeding frenzy to put on their winter fat. During this time of the year they are on the go most of the time and burn off their fat. If you catch a 35 pound fish now it should be near 40 or more by November. :bash: LOL

Congrats on getting those muskie, they are are fun to catch, I just wish they had a little more endurance for being the top predator in the lake, I never new they had to get back in the water so quick.. I hook up with a great muskie fisherman from this site and he has taken me twice a year and always puts me on lots a fish every trip..
The funny this about it he also has a 27' Sport Craft, what we do is exchange fishing trips, I take him out walleye fishing on the river for walleye, but this year is pretty hard on me so far and I cant keep my end of the deal..
I am sure you are hooked now like I am, the only thing holding me back is the price of the "MONSTER BAITS".. I just wanted to tell you congats it sure is a lot of fun.. Cya Slick fishin
